RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE
After working on a number of commercial and retail projects, I decided to try my hand at residential architecture. As someone who loves details, I was intrigued not only by the scale, but also by how personal the work is to the clients. My role on these projects involved creating 2D and 3D drawings for client presentations, publications, and construction along with researching materials, manufacturers, and vendors and coordinating our designs with consultants and manufacturers.
NAPA
6000 square foot private residence with detached guest cottage
Pre-fabricted and site built construction
Sitting atop a knoll, surrounded by vineyards, and overlooking Napa Valley, this site offered a one of a kind opportunity to build something truly special. The house is oriented toward the south west, employing large windows with canopies which capitalize on the view while shading from the summer sun. Per county standards, the residence had to be hidden from the road, hence a dark color palette was chosen to blend it into the surrounding oak trees and landscape of the site.
This was our company’s first time working with pre-fabrication, allowing all of us to learn and adapt our working methodology to bring this project to life.

GEYSERVILLE
1500 square foot private residence and 500 square foot detached guest cottage
Nestled between the many existing trees on the site, this home mixes Japanese aesthetics on the exterior with California country on the interior. The beauty of the site is brought into the living spaces through glass sliders and operable glass windows, which is possible due to the cool climate of the site. Weathered gray wood is used throughout the interiors to create the client’s requested atmosphere and to further relate the project to its proximity to the Northern California coast. When no guests are present in the detached cottage, the small abode doubles as office spaces for the owners.

SEBASTOPOL
2500 square foot private residence
Situated on a long, sloping site, the residence pays homage to the clients love for modernism. Three flat roofs cover a central living space, which anchors the home, and two sleeping areas on either side. While a shou sugi ban clad wall provides privacy on one side of the home, the rest of the house opens to the surrounding nature of the site. Currently under construction.

KENTUCKY
1500 square foot guest house
Sitting on several acres of rural Kentucky prairie, the guest cabin was designed to be comfortable enough for the owners to live in while their dream house is built a couple acres away, on the same site. The two gabled structures, which house the main living space and bedrooms are positioned to take advantage of the site’s creek and existing tree grove. Local wood, stone, and tile was implemented to tie the project in with the region’s vernacular. Currently under construction.
